How I Got

My Chapter Heading Illustration Affordably

It started with the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I love Leigh's books, and the artwork above each chapter heading really inspired me.


I wanted to have that in my book. 

The first place I went was 99 Designs, because I'd heard a lot of great things about it. But the cheapest package was $350, and I didn't have that much left in my budget after all the other production costs. 

But I really liked that 99 Designs gave people the chance to compete for your project. I loved the idea of seeing multiple interpretations of my instructions and choosing which ever fit best. 

So instead of combing through Fiverr or Deviant Art--which are both decent places to look, don't get me wrong--I decided to hold my own competition.
